We created Hot Mess 1° from a question that had been nagging at us since the beginning of the BECOS LUXURY project: why does every fragrance in the luxury space take itself so seriously? Why is warmth always presented as weight? Why is playfulness always considered the opposite of sophistication?
Why can a fragrance not simply be — alive, and fun, and completely, gloriously, unapologetically itself? The name came first, and everything else followed from it. Hot Mess 1° is a reclamation — of the phrase that has been used to describe women who are too interesting, too vivid, too much for the neat categories that the world prefers.
It is also a description of the fragrance itself: five notes that have no business being this beautiful together, that should by conventional perfumery logic produce something confused and incoherent, and that instead produce something so vivid and warm and completely itself that it seems, in retrospect, inevitable. The brief to our master perfumer was the most unusual we have ever given: make us a fragrance that smells like the best friend you have — the one who is always five minutes late and always worth the wait, who tells you the truth when you need it and makes you laugh when you need that more, who is the first person you call when anything happens — good or bad — because she is the one who will actually understand. Make us a fragrance that smells like her.
Hot Mess 1° is that fragrance. Five notes. Complete conviction.
Zero apologies. Everything she is.
